Dr. Geeta Garg is a vitreoretinal surgeon and uveitis specialist at Advanced Eye Care Center.

Dr. Garg graduated from the University of Rochester with a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience.  She then earned her medical degree from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry.  While in medical school Dr. Garg was presented with the Janet M. Glasgow Memorial Achievement award – the American Medical Women Association’s award for scholastic achievement.  Dr. Garg completed residency training in ophthalmology at George Washington University Medical Center in Washington DC, where in 2003-2004 she served as Chief Resident. Following residency training, Dr. Garg undertook a uveitis and ocular immuniology fellowship at the Nathional Eye Institute/National Institutes of Health, followed by a 2-year vitreoretinal fellowship at The National Retina Institute.

Dr. Garg has extensive experience in clinical research, including serving as a clinical research coordinator in the Department of Ophthalmology at George Washington University Medical Scheool, and a research internship at the Royal Free Hospital and School of Medicine in London, England. she has also been involved in ground-breaking research involving mapping of the human retinal proteome, which will lead to an increased understanding of the mechanisms by which pathology in the eye develop.  Dr. Garg has authored scientific publications in peer-reviewed ophthalmic journals.

Dr. Garg’s special interests include macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vascular occlusion, retinal surgery, and ocular inflammation.
